Agricultural Shop I Grades 9-11 1 Credit
This course is designed to introduce basic mechanical skills and agricultural concepts. Emphasis is placed on developing skills in general shop safety, hand woodworking tool identification and use, portable power tools, band saw, drill press, drafting and plan reading, introduction to wood finishes, introduction to plant science, and career and leadership training through involvement in FFA activities.
Agricultural Shop II Grades 10-11 1 Credit
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Agricultural Shop I.
Emphasis is placed on continued skill development in woodworking including use of the band saw, drill press, radial arm saw, table saw, jointer, planer, and figuring a bill of materials and parts list. Agricultural Shop II introduces arc and gas welding, electricity, forestry, plant propagation, plant care and selection, record keeping, and leadership training through involvement in FFA activities.
Agricultural Shop III Grades 11-12 1 Credit
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Agricultural Shop II.
Emphasis is placed on instruction in the areas of advanced woodworking, basic engine principles, electrical systems, and building structure. It also involves continued planning of supervised experience programs, career opportunities and leadership training involvement in FFA activities.
Agricultural Shop IV Grade 12 1 Credit
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Agricultural III.
Training is provided through individual instruction. Emphasis is placed on improving skills with continued emphasis on leadership training and occupational development through FFA activities and opportunities.
