Ruckersville Elementary School Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Stanardsville, VA, April 19, 2019

Ruckersville Elementary School is hosting an Open House on Thursday, April 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. celebrating its 20th Anniversary. A committee of teachers and administrators has been working to organize the event.

According to Rachel Peters, a Music Teacher who is serving on the Committee, “Ruckersville Elementary has accomplished a lot in the past 20 years. But one of our greatest accomplishments is establishing a sense of community that defines the school. We have such a dedicated faculty and staff and such supportive parents. So this is a way for us to create a venue to celebrate that hard work and community.”

At the Open House, student artwork will be on display, musical performances will occur throughout the evening and select classrooms will be open for visits. In addition, time capsule artifacts will be on display. According to Assistant Principal Martina Carroll, each grade level created an artifact that will be displayed at the event and then buried at the school the next morning in a time capsule. “We thought this would be a fun, memorable and meaningful way for our students to be a part of our celebration,” said Ms. Carroll.

The Open House is open to all members of the Ruckersville Elementary Community. The 20th Anniversary Committee is hopeful that many former students and educators will attend.
