GCPS Fitness Room
Stanardsville, VA, January 9, 2020
The William Monroe High School Sports Boosters have provided over $15,000 to create a new fitness room. This fitness room will be utilized by Greene County Public School students, athletes, and staff. The premise of this project stemmed from a need for an additional fitness room to help promote physical fitness, strength, and endurance. The Sports Boosters had a vision to provide an additional space that utilized cardio and strength equipment that was easy to use and available to all. This space will be used by student athletes, students in physical education classes, and aspiring athletic training trainers. This space will be a training ground that will provide opportunities for students to learn how to maximize this equipment to help those who are injured regain their strength and return to form.
The importance of maintaining a healthy staff was also a consideration during this process. The demands placed on our educators are increasing regularly. Increased demands lead to increased stress levels, which can adversely affect health. In order to invest in our employees and their health, this fitness center will be available to all staff 24/7 through the use of a keyless entry system.
The new fitness room was officially opened on December 12, 2019 after coaches and trainers were trained on the equipment.
Greene County Public School Staff will receive access to the new fitness room during the month of January.
