Greene County Schools Emphasize Bullying Prevention Efforts

Schools Plan Activities and Events to Recognize Bullying Prevention Month

 

(Stanardsville, VA) During the month of October, Greene County Public Schools joins other divisions throughout the state to recognize Bullying Prevention Month. GCPS leaders have determined the most effective ways to reduce bullying involve collaboration among members of school communities, including students and parents. Educators emphasize why anti-bullying measures are necessary and offer additional resources and activities that promote unity. All schools in the division are planning various events during October. 

 

The following are some items students can look forward to: 

  • A Walk to End Bullying at Ruckersville Elementary School
  • Video/art contest that highlights standing up for other, choosing kindness, and rejecting stereotypes
  • Kindness Grams 
  • Special activities with school counselors, including the chance to be the daily kindness act “secret agent” 
  • “Kindness Chain” throughout the school
  • Door decorating contest 
  • Videos for Elementary students including “Spookley the square pumpkin” 

 

Staff will also have opportunities to learn more about effective anti-bullying strategies through professional development throughout the school year.
