• How to Receive SchoolMessenger Notifications from GCPS

During the Fall of 2016, GCPS has started a comprehensive upgrade to our student information system, PowerSchool.  With these changes, we have asked parents to update the information in PowerSchool to have the most current and up to date phone numbers, addresses, email accounts and emergency contacts for your child.

SchoolMessenger is also used for attendance calls, weather-related delays/closings, school activities, newsletters, etc. With this system, student contact information will be uploaded directly from PowerSchool and parents/guardians will be able to manage their preferences in their PowerSchool Parent Portal.  Please click on the link below for information on how to manage your notifications.

If you have not updated your child/children's information this school year (2019-2020), please take a moment to download the following pdf forms and send the forms in with your child to their school. You will need to fill out a form for each student that you have attending GCPS.  If you are unable to download the necessary forms, please contact the main office of the respective school to have a copy of the form sent home with your child.  You are also welcome to visit the main office of the school to fill out any necessary forms in person if you so choose.

How to Subscribe to Text Notifications

Our school division utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages, straight to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more.

You can participate in this free service just by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587.

You can also opt out of these messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.

You will receive a confirmation to tell you that you will receive approximately 3 messages per month. The message will also include information about opting out of the service by sending STOP to the same short code number. You may receive fewer or more than 3 messages per month depending on the number of weather-related announcements sent by GCPS.
